Another Storm Nears: Weather Service Warns Of Event Causing More Flooding In NJ, PA Yet another storm system is working its way toward the region, the National Weather Service warns. Northern New Jersey and Southeast Pennsylvania will remain in a flood stage through the end of the week, when the second storm is set to arrive, the NWS said. That storm will begin Friday evening, Jan. 12, with rainfall continuing overnight into Saturday, Jan. 13, the weather service said. Brace For Isolated Twisters, Flash Flooding Across NJ, Forecasters Say Up to three inches of rain, flash flooding and damaging winds were expected Thursday across New Jersey. A flash flood watch was in effect for Bergen, Essex, Hudson,  Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren counties Thursday morning into Friday. Severe thunderstorms with potential for isolated twisters were also possible, the National Weather Service says. The main threat was expected midday Thursday into the early overnight hours, the NWS says. Storms were, however, expected to move out quickly Friday.

Round Of Storms Could Bring Damaging Winds, Large Hail To Area When thunder roars, head indoors. Area residents should keep that in mind late Thursday afternoon into the early evening as a cold front passing through could bring thunderstorms accompanied by potentially damaging winds with large hail also possible, the National Weather Service says. The time frame for the potential for severe weather is between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Some sunshine Thursday morning will give way to clouds before the thunderstorm chance starts later in the afternoon.
