Thomas Tompkins, 64, Of Rhinebeck
RHINEBECK, N.Y. – Thomas Tompkins, a lifetime resident of Rhinebeck, died Saturday, July 17. He was 64.
He was born in Rhinebeck, to George H. and Bernice (White) Werner.
Upon graduation from Rhinebeck High School, he served in the Vietnam War. He returned to Rhinebeck and worked as a security officer at several locations, the most recent being Northern Dutchess Hospital. He was a member of the Western Shooters Association and he participated in Civil War re-enactments.

Virginia Hanlon, 96, Of Haverstraw
HAVERSTRAW, N.Y. – Virginia (Ginny) Hanlon, a resident of Haverstraw, died Saturday, July 16. She was 96.
Born Nov. 4, 1920, in Americus, Ga., she was the daughter of Kenny and Mary Phillips.
Prior to moving to New York, she worked at the Manhattan Shirt Factory in Americus.
On Sept.4, 1944, she married Staff Sgt. Frank B. Hanlon. In 1946, they made their home and raised their family in Frank’s hometown, Haverstraw. While raising her family, Hanlon also worked caring for developmentally disabled children for many years.

John S. Ball, 91, Of Hasbrouck Heights
HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. – John S. Ball, a resident of Hasbrouck Heights, died Saturday, July 16. He was 91.
Born July 26, 1924, he was the son of the late Anna and John T. Ball of Lawrence Township.
In December 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served on sea plane reconnaissance flights in the Pacific Theater. He earned a number of decorations, including the Good Conduct Medal, the Philippine Liberation Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Medal with two stars. He was discharged as an aviation machinist’s mate second class in 1946.

NORTH ARLINGTON, N.J. – Ssi Han Yun, a resident of North Arlington, died Saturday, July 16. She was 100.
She is survived by her children Sok Cho Yun, Sok Ho Yun, Sok Paul Yun, Sok Hee Yun, Hwa Cha Hon, Ok Cha Pak, Maria Cantelmo and Hanna Kim.
She was predeceased by her husband, Dok Yun.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. and Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
A funeral ceremony will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Rd., Lyndhurst. Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery.

NEWTOWN, Conn. – Edward C. Keough Sr., a resident of Sandy Hook, died Saturday, July 16. He was 83.
Born on April 23, 1933, in Stoughton, Mass., he was the second child of Alfred and Mary (Chaisson) Keough.
The family moved to Queens Village, N.Y., where he graduated from St. Francis Xavier High School and went on to earn a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Connecticut in 1956.
