Angela A. Ortiz, 42, was released without bail pending a Municipal Court appearance Wednesday on theft charges.

Saddle Brook Police Chief Robert Kugler said Ortiz began taking the blanks from the Market Street offices of doctors Michael Wiener and Francesco Pagano soon after she was hired three months ago.

A local pharmacist called the physicians on Friday, asking about the scripts, Kugler said. They, in turn, called police, he said.

“Our investigation is ongoing and will undoubtedly lead to additional charges of fraudulently filling out numerous prescription blanks and obtaining a prescribed drug to satisfy what may be an addiction to an often abused pain medicine,” the chief said.
