Arthur Dixon, 72, Former Greenwich Zoning Inspector
GREENWICH, Conn. -- Arthur “Bruce” Dixon, a Greenwich resident, died Wednesday, Dec. 30. He was 72.
Dixon was born June 9, 1943, in Wilton, Conn., the son of the late Arthur and Nellie (Thompson) Dixon. He was a U.S Air Force veteran and worked for the Greenwich Department of Public Works from 1978 to 2005.
During his tenure as traffic operations supervisor, he was selected by the to act as liaison between the town and the state on all state projects in Greenwich, including the reconstruction of the Interstate 95 bridge following its collapse into the Mianus River.

MONROE, Conn. -- Registration packets for children in Monroe eligible to start kindergarten this fall are available at the district's elementary schools.
An information session will be conducted at each elementary school at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18. Under state law, to be eligible for kindergarten in the fall of 2016, children must be at least 5 on or before Dec. 31, 2016.

Marie Deragon, 91, Of Stamford
STAMFORD, Conn. -- Marie A. Deragon, a Stamford resident, died Tuesday, Jan. 5. She was 91.
Deragon was born April 17, 1924, in Stamford . She was a former employee of Pitney Bowes, where she met her husband. She also was a teacher's assistant with the Stamford Public Schools for more than 20 years, a member of the St. Gabriel RC Church Senior Circle and the church's prayer line. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels and knitted scarves and hats for the needy.
Deragon was predeceased by her husband Harry J. Deragon and sister Ann Summa.

Ivette Prior-Crofoot, 90, Of Stamford
STAMFORD, Conn. -- Yvette Prior-Crofoot, a Stamford resident, died Jan. 3. She was 90.
She came to the United States after World War II to marry a U.S. GI she had met while he was stationed in Paris and settled in Stamford, where she raised her family.
Prior-Crofoot worked as a secretary in Paris and again, later, for the FSAB in Norwalk for 20 years. She also worked as a substitute French teacher.

Darien Middle School Quiz Bowl Team Tops Competition
MIDDLESEX, Conn. -- The Middlesex Middle School Quiz Bowl Team won the Charter Oak Scholastic Open for the third year in a row and took second place for the second straight year.
This was the team’s largest tournament to date, with a field consisting of 32 teams from Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York. The contestants competed head-to-head to answer questions on subjects such as history, literature, science, fine arts, current events, sports and popular culture.

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Norma Caporale (Fanese), a lifelong resident of New Rochelle, died on Monday, Jan. 4. She was 83. Caporale was born on Aug. 23, 1932, in New Rochelle to the Guido "Bill" and Rose (Latino) Fanese. She worked for more than 30 years at New Rochelle High School.

NORWALK, Conn. -- John Ballard Epps, Jr., a Norwalk resident, died on Friday, Jan. 1. He was 73.
Epps was born on March 24, 1942, in Whitmere, S.C.,, to Marie McMorris Epps and John Ballard Epps, Sr.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Genovese Trucking Company after numerous years of service.
