The United States Army
Born 14 June 1775, it is the oldest of all services and kind of like a grandfather. It has deep roots in our nation’s history and is thought of as the beginning of our country sparked by a few patriots. The Army has always been a symbol of strength and a warning to those that cast a shadowy eye towards America.
The United States Marine Corps
Born 10 November 1775, ir is the third-oldest Service of the United States and is traditionally listed second as it has typically been bestowed “head of rank and right of file” honors before the Navy. It is comprised of warriors of the sea born and bred to perpetuate fear into the hearts and minds of those seeking to harm America’s citizenry. It is the quick response team of the president that may deploy at a moment’s notice and conquer an area until the Army arrives.
The United States Navy
Born 13 October 1775, comprised of warriors of the sea, they are assumed to have Poseidon’s blood coursing through their veins. True blue is their nature and the project military might from the sea. They are always forward deployed throughout the world and ready to perform combat or NEO missions with a switch of the dial.
The United States Coast Guard
Born 4 August 1790, it is the third oldest of the five major branches of the Armed forces. They continually protect our shores and are present at sea throughout the world being a naval “police”. Like the Marine Corps, It can be utilized by the President at a moment’s notice. Its motto is Semper Paratus: Always Ready. They have the unique duty of operating within our borders, as well as outside of our borders. Their one Medal of Honor winner is Douglas A. Munro who’s last words were “did they get off?” after evacuating a detachment of pinned down Marines from Guadalcanal.
The United States Air Force
Born 18 September 1947 after a break from the Army in which they were named the Army Air Corps, they are similar in nature to the Navy in the fact that they project military might throughout the world, but at the touch of a button. When in a kimchi sandwich, there’s nothing like air support! They soar way above the clouds, but will be in your back pocket at a moment’s notice.
All of these services have had honorable personnel and loyal troops associated with their particular services. This day of remembrance was set aside for all of those that have gone on before us. Let us not forget their sacrifices and the lives that were lost.

SEMPER FIDELIS
Brian Campbell enlisted in Dec. 1986 at the tender young age of 16. Although he left the Marines in 1993 to become an assistant teacher in his Brentwood, N.Y., hometown, he jumped at the chance to re-enlist as a super-high frequency technician. He later served in Marine Wing Communications Squadron 18 in Okinawa, Japan, and was deployed to several operations in Operations Desert Shield and Desort Storm. When he left to civilian life for good in 1995, it was as a sergeant. He now does contracting work training service men and women for the government.
