Abraham Anibol Chumil, 33, of North Bergen originally insisted that he wasn’t aroused when he put the girl on his lap while in his underwear during a sleepover.
He also denied trying to pull down the girl’s pants, which she told detectives especially upset her.
But the prospect of a trial — in particular, the potential prison sentence of 30 to 40 years that a guilty verdict would bring — convinced him to accept a plea deal
Questioned by his lawyer, Chumil told Presiding Superior Court Judge Liliana DeAvila-Silebi on Friday that the girls came in to play as he sat on his friend’s sofa.
He said he put the older girl on his lap so they could play a game on his cellphone and then put his hands around her waist and pulled her back up when she slid off.
“Her legs were open so that her vagina was rubbing against your leg . . . you brought her back onto your lap, and you had an erection,” attorney Gayle Hargrove said, to which Chumil agreed.
“When you were making these motions and holding onto her, you felt sexual arousal, and your hands and body parts touched her buttocks and vagina,” she added.
Chumil answered yes.
Prosecutors cropped charges of child endangerment for exposing the younger child to sexual conduct as part of his guilty plea to one second-degree charge of sexual assault by contact.
“Deportation is mandatory for this crime,” DeAvila-Silebi told him. “Do you plead guilty, even though you know you’ll be deported?”
Chumil said he did.
The judge set sentencing for Sept. 5.
