The attic fire on Vivian Avenue began around 1:40 p.m.

Heavy flames quickly began blowing out of the back of the house.

It drew emergency responders from Emerson, Oradell, Westwood and River Vale, as well as Hillsdale’s FAST team.

Firefighters contained the blaze and beat back flames that destroyed the ground and upper floor.

Washington Township firefighters handled mutual aid, including at least one call that proved unfounded.

The Ladies Auxiliary also responded to provide water for the emergency workers.
