Donations still needed for River Vale officer’s son’s kidney transplant

Although Thursday night’s “Evening for Gavin” was a sold out success, organizers are hoping donations continue toward raising the nearly $100,000 for a kidney transplant for Gavin Scimeca, the young son of River Vale Police Officer Anthony Scimeca and his wife, Tara.

Gavin has Autosomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease (ARPKD) and needs the transplant to survive.

“An Evening For Gavin” at the Elks B P O Westwood Lodge No 1562, featured food tasting from Banchetto Feast and Pompilio’s Pizza, both of Westwood; Davey’s Irish Pub and The Porter House, both of Montvale; and Blue Moon of Woodcliff Lake, as well as a wine tasting sponsored by Ridgemont Liquors of Park Ridge.

And although every last ticket was snatched up, Event Chair Judy Hawkins said donations are still needed.
