Stranded Whale Rescued, Twice, In Barnegat Bay A whale that was stranded twice in two days in Barnegat Bay was rescued and was spotted swimming safely away from the Jersey Shore on Tuesday, Oct. 3, authorities said. The 22-foot minke whale was seen swimming a mile from an inlet before sundown on Tuesday, the Marine Mammal Stranding Center said on Facebook on Wednesday, Oct. 4. The stranding center (MMSC) was notified about the whale on Sunday, Oct. 1. 22 People Rescued From Sinking NJ Charter Cruise Twenty-two people were saved by a good Samaritan from a sinking charter cruise off Sea Isle City, authorities said. The Starfish hit the Townsends Inlet Bridge on Monday evening, July 11 and started taking on water, a U.S. Coast Guard spokesman said. There were no injuries. Sea Tow and the cruise ship's owner were making repairs to the boat on Tuesday, July 12, the spokesman said.

Coast Guard Rescues Duck Hunters Stranded On South Jersey Shore Island In Freezing Temps Members of the U.S. Coast Guard rescued a pair of duck hunters stranded on an island in Little Egg Inlet in Brigantine Tuesday. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay received a call from Sea Tow around 3 p.m., that the hunters had their boat on the island, but were unable to get it to back, Coast Guard officials said. Due to the shallow water surrounding the island, Sea Tow was unable to reach the hunters.
