Authorities are looking for an inmate serving time for attempted murder who escaped from a work detail in Burlington County. Edward Berbon, serving a 22-year prison sentence, remains at large, Mount Laurel police said. Berbon, 54, was scheduled for release on Feb. 12, 2024 — his mandatory minimum sentence. The reward in the search for Danelo Cavalcante has been increased to $25,000. The 34-year-old escaped killer, who is also wanted for murder in Brazil, is armed after stealing a pistol from a Chester County home Monday, Sept. 11, authorities said. Nearly half a century after his body was located on the side of a Bucks County highway, investigators are still seeking Terrance Schonleber's killer. A search was under way for four inmates who escaped from a federal prison in Virginia Saturday, June 18, officials said. Corey Branch, Tavares Lajuane Graham, Lamonte Rashawn Willis and Kareem Allen Shaw went missing from the Federal Correctional Complex Petersburg’s satellite camp in Hopewell around 1:45 a.m., the FBI of Prisons said in a news release. Escaped Prisoner Captured In South Jersey: Police
A New Jersey state prisoner was captured within a few hours of his escape, authorities said. The escape occurred early Thursday from Bayside State Prison, located off Route 47 in Maurice River, Cumberland County, initial reports said. Multiple New Jersey State Police K-9 units were called to help search the region, but did not have to be deployed, a State Police spokesman said. The prisoner was located and was in custody by 10 a.m., the spokesman said.
