An electrical fire was doused at the Coach House diner on Route 4 in Hackensack as responders handled a rapid-fire cluster of calls. A smoking outlet at the popular diner off Hackensack Avenue brought city firefighters around 11 a.m. Thursday, July 13, responders at the scene said. The scene was cleared about 90 minutes later. A 62-year-old electric bicycle rider from Teaneck suffered what appeared to be broken bones when he was struck by an SUV driven by a 69-year-old township woman, authorities said. Woman Ticketed After Being Run Over By Her Own Vehicle In NJ
As if being run over by her own car wasn't punishment enough, the 61-year-old driver was then ticketed for having an unregistered vehicle, authorities in New Jersey said. A pedestrian was struck by a car in Morristown, developing reports say. The victim was hit near South and Pine streets shortly before 10:40 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, according to initial and unconfirmed reports. An advanced life support ambulance responded to rush the victim to a nearby hospital, the report says. The Major Crimes unit was also called to the accident scene. Old Navy Employee Struck, Killed By Car In Jersey City 'Never Missed A Day'
A 36-year-old Jersey City man was struck and killed by a car Wednesday night in Jersey City, authorities said. Phillip Delancy was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center after being struck at 740 Route 440 around 9:30 p.m. Nov. 3, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. The vehicle that struck Delancy fled the scene, Suarez said. Delancy was pronounced dead at approximately 10:25 p.m. The cause and manner of death are pending an investigation by the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office. Speed Bump Kills North Jersey Sanitation Worker Riding On Truck, Police Say
A 74-year-old sanitation worker died after the truck he was riding on hit a speed bump and he fell off earlier this month in Scotch Plains, police announced. Ismael Oliva was riding on the rear platform of the truck when he fell off and hit is head on the 300 block of Henry Street around 9:30 a.m. Sept. 2, local police said. Good Samaritans had rushed outside to help the Plainfield sanitation worker when paramedics arrive. Oliva was rushed to Overlook Medical Center in Summit, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The crash remains under investigation.

Glen Rock police revived a driver who’d overdosed behind the wheel and crashed, damaging a resident’s lawn, in the middle of the afternoon. A Sussex County group home resident who last month attacked a school bus carrying children crashed the home's van into a neighbor's property last week causing damage, police said. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. on Nov. 22, on Meadows Road in Lafayette, New Jersey State Police said.
