Newark Man Who Killed Brother, Tried To Cut Up Body Sentenced
A Newark man has been sentenced to 75 years in prison for shooting his brother to death and attempting to dismember his remains to conceal the crime, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said Tuesday.
Ervwakine Pryor, 41, killed his brother Jovan Johnson, 29, at their shared apartment on Avon Avenue June 26, 2017. Pryor believed Johnson had stolen from him.
Pryor called a friend and asked for a ride to a department store. During the trip, authorities say Pryor confessed to the crime and also admitted killing his daughter's cat, which he described as a "witness."

The State Board of Nursing has temporarily suspended the certification of a homemaker-health aide from Bloomfield charged with manslaughter in the death of a nursing home resident in her care, Attorney General Gurbrir S. Grewal said Thursday.
Monique Beaucejour, 46, of Bloomfield, has been charged with reckless manslaughter, hindering, obstruction and neglect of the elderly.

An Edgewater man who authorities said spent the night drinking at a local bar was charged with manslaughter after he crashed his car into a tree, killing three people, in Maine.
The vehicle driven by Praneeth Manubolu, 28, veered off the road shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday in Acadia National Park, documents on file in U.S. District Court in Portland say.
The three passengers who died in the accident were identified as Lenny Fuchs, 36, Laura Leong, 30, and Zeeshan Mohammed, 27, all of New York City.

A Plainfield man has been found guilty of a fatal shooting that resulted from a dispute between rival street gangs in the city three years ago, the Union County Prosecutor's Office said.
Shaquille Spruiel, 29, was convicted of murder, conspiracy and related weapons offenses following a two-month trial. He is scheduled to be sentenced in August, when he faces up to 30 years in prison.

A man being held in a Michigan jail killed an accused sex-abusing priest who once served as a chaplain at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, at a parish in North Bergen and at three Union County churches, authorities in Nevada said.
Derrick Mitchell Decoste, 25, shot 70-year-old John Capparelli in the neck during a robbery at his home in Henderson, just outside Las Vegas, on March 9, authorities said.
