Congers Woman Charged With Stealing Merchandise From Pearl River ShopRite ORANGETOWN, N.Y. -- Orangetown police arrested a 52-year-old resident of Congers on a larceny charge following an incident at ShopRite in Pearl River, police said. The arrest came about after the suspect, identified as Karen Martin, was observed by store employees leaving the premises with approximately $200 of merchandise without paying for it, according to police. Martin was taken into custody on Sunday, around 1:52 p.m., according to police. The defendant has been charged with petty larceny and criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree, both misdemeanors, police said. …

Sunday Road Closure Announced In North Castle NORTH CASTLE, N.Y. -- North Castle police are informing the public that Virginia Road will be closed to all traffic between Lafayette Avenue and the Bronx River Parkway on Sunday, Oct. 2, from 6 p.m. to around midnight. The closure is being implemented to accommodate Metro North Railroad’s ongoing construction efforts on Virginia Road in the area of the railroad crossing. Traffic control devices will be utilized to divert traffic in the area. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes.
