But the 16-year-old recipient of the New Jersey Music Education Association Governor’s Award is about to embark on her greatest undertaking yet.

carlomagno is one of ten students nationwide who were accepted to participate in a week-long master class at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City.

"This is probably the greatest thing I have done yet," Carlomagno told Daily Voice. "It is a great step for my career."

Carlomagno applied for the program at the behest of her voice coach Sondra Kelly, whom she has been working with for the past four years.

The program is taught by Metropolitan Opera professionals during the week of February 14th. The goal is to further the knowledge of budding singers who are going to pursue a career in the opera.

"I think it is going to further my knowledge, boost confidence in my performing realm, and help me make connections," the soprano vocalist said.

Carlomagno, who attends Northern Valley Regional High School in Old Tappan, said she has always had a passion for the opera.

"The opera appeals to in a way that nothing ever has before," she said. "It is the thing that makes me most happy."
