A 51-year-old Hackettstown man was arrested on Thursday, Jan. 4 and charged with vehicular manslaughter following a Thanksgiving Eve crash that killed a 33-year-old mother of two. Andrzej Szysko was heading east in a Jeep Wrangler that struck the passenger's side of a Ford pickup truck, heading south on Route 517 in Allamuchy around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023, New Jersey State Police said. 3 Hurt, Lab Rescued During Serious Back-To-Back Crashes In Hunterdon County
Three people were taken to trauma centers and a yellow lab was rescued during back-to-back crashes in Hunterdon County on Sunday, June 4, responders said. The Tewksbury First Aid and Rescue Squad responded to the first crash around 10:10 a.m. and found that the driver had slammed into a utility pole on Route 517 north of King Street in Oldwick. The driver was treated at the scene and taken to a nearby trauma center while the passenger — a yellow lab — was cared for at the scene and picked up later by family, the squad said. Serious Crash Closes Route 517 In Sussex County
Police were investigating a serious crash on Route 517 near Foxhill Drive in Franklin Borough. The crash occurred mid-afternoon Monday, Feb. 27. The crash shut down the route, also known as Munsonhurst Road, from Route 23 in Franklin to Kennedy Avenue in Ogdensburg, police said.

NJ QuickChek Gas Attendant Robbed At Gunpoint: Report
A Warren County QuickChek was held up at gunpoint Wednesday night, and the suspect remains at large, LehighValleyLive reports. The gunman robbed the attendant outside at the QuickChek on Route 517 in Independence Township before driving off in a dark-colored BMW around 10:45 p.m., the outlet reports, citing police Lt. Christopher Prell. State police chased the suspect vehicle through several neighboring towns before losing contact, the report says. No one was hurt. Three 15-year-olds were in a vehicle stolen out of Jersey City when they lead police on a pursuit through multiple towns last month. Officers had just stopped the speeding vehicle on Barkers Mill Road in Independence Township when the driver once again sped away in a Sept. 30 incident, township police said. Falling Tree Kills Pickup Driver On Route 517
A driver was killed after a tree fell on his pickup truck on Route 517 in Tewksbury Saturday, authorities said. The man was heading northbound on Route 517 when a tree fell on his 2008 Toyota Tacoma near mile marker 2.6 just after 3 p.m., Chief Timothy Barlow said. EMS crews from nearby districts responded to help extricate the driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Route 517 was closed for about 90 minutes but has since been reopened, authorities said. A Phillipsburg woman had smoked K2 spice just half an hour before driving erratically with her three-year-old toddler in the car Tuesday night, authorities charged. Brittany Hicks, 26, was pulled over for driving erratically near the intersection of Route 517 and Main Street in Hackettstown just after 10 p.m., authorities said in a release. A 19-year-old man from Bayonne was taken into custody after leading police on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle up Route 46 in Morris County, authorities said. A police officer spotted a 2011 Volks Wagon driving erratically on Route 46 westbound after leaving the the Shell Gas Station around 12:15 a.m. Monday, Mount Olive police said in a news release.
