Georgy is one lucky dog. Recently, state trooper Michael Betz rescued a dog that fell through the ice in Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey State police said on Facebook. Betz was on his way into the New Jersey State Police Lake Hopatcong substation when he noticed Georgy stuck out on the ice, police said. Betz made several attempts to coax the small dog over to the shoreline, police said. The frightened dog would not come and fell through the ice, struggling to remain afloat, police said. Heroin, methamphetamine, and cocaine were among a variety of drugs seized from two people in Hudson County last week, authorities said. Police were searching a residence on the 200 block of Front Street when they found Edgar Agramonte, a 38-year-old Union City resident, had cocaine and 15 ecstasy pills, on Friday, Aug. 25, Police Chief Dennis Miller said. The body of a 59-year-old swimmer was recovered after being swept away by a rip tide off the Jersey Shore, NJ Advance Media reported. Police ID Morris County Man Airlifted After Fall From Ladder
A Lake Hopatcong man was flown to a nearby hospital after falling from a ladder Monday afternoon, authorities said. Emergency crews responding to the fall report at 86 Main St. in Chester found Anthony Litterini, 29, with a head injury shortly after 12:45 p.m., Chief Thomas Williver said in a release. Litterini was flown via Atlantic Health Medevac to Morristown Medical Center for treatment, Williver said. The Chester Volunteer Fire Company also assisted at the scene.
