Monday, Jan. 8 will be sunny with a high in the mid-40s and Tuesday, Jan. 9 will be even warmer and breezy, with a high near 50, but with a chance of rain, the NWS said. That rain is set to begin around 1 p.m., and will be accompanied by heavy winds as the day progresses, forecasters say. Brace For Isolated Twisters, Flash Flooding Across NJ, Forecasters Say Up to three inches of rain, flash flooding and damaging winds were expected Thursday across New Jersey. A flash flood watch was in effect for Bergen, Essex, Hudson,  Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren counties Thursday morning into Friday. Severe thunderstorms with potential for isolated twisters were also possible, the National Weather Service says. The main threat was expected midday Thursday into the early overnight hours, the NWS says. Storms were, however, expected to move out quickly Friday.

Update: Door Dash Driver Swept Through Underground Tunnel Into Passaic River During Storm A Door Dash driver survived after she and her car were swept through a blocks-long underground tunnel and into the Passaic River during Monday's storm, city police said. Nathalia Bruno, 24, of Newark told police she was delivering food when her car got caught in a flash flood near the Benson Avenue tennis courts. She said she “was then dragged by a current of water and she could see it heading towards a tunnel." Bruno told police she bailed out but was pulled underground along with her car.
