Teen Drove Tesla 88+ MPH During Deadly Crash In Lakewood: Prosecutors
An Ocean County teen was accused of driving nearly 90 miles per hour in a crash that killed a man, authorities said. Aryeh Bakst, 18, of Lakewood, was charged on Wednesday, Mar. 27 with vehicular homicide. Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer announced the charge in a news release on Thursday, Apr. 4. A New Jersey man was among two drivers killed when an SUV struck a median and went airborne on I-95 in Maryland before crashing head-on into another truck late on Thursday afternoon. A 24-year-old Toms River man has been indicted in connection with a fatal crash in which he was traveling 91 miles per hour, authorities said. Alejandro Huerta-Arias was indicted by a Grand Jury on the charge of vehicular homicide on April 6, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer. A 17-year-old driver was speeding before crashing his parents' Corvette overnight in Edison, authorities said. The driver damaged the entrance to Pierre's Deli on Georges Road around 1 a.m., totaling the car, South Brunswick police said. The driver was issued a summons. Police ID Atlantic County Driver, 44, Killed When Car Hits Tree
Authorities have identified an Atlantic County driver who was killed early Sunday when his car struck a tree. Glen Mclean, 44, of Pleasantville, was traveling north about 2:30 a.m. on South Shore Road in Absecon when his car careened off the road and went airborne before hitting the tree, Absecon police said. Mclean was pronounced dead at the crash scene. Speeding likely contributed to the crash, according to police. There were no passengers in his car. An investigation is continuing. A 23-year-old Wanaque driver was stopped on Route 17 in Orange County after speeding past a New York State Police trooper at 145 miles an hour, authorities said. Jeremy Van Leuvan received summonses for reckless endangerment, reckless driving and doing 145mph in a 65mph zone after the trooper stopped his westbound 2009 Dodge Challenger in Wallkill around 10:15 a.m. Friday, the NYSP said.
