The New York Times reported the "Appeal to Heaven" flag was raised over the house in July and September 2023. Humpback Whale Found Along Jersey Shore Died From Blunt Force Trauma, Autopsy Shows The first whale found dead along the Jersey Shore in 2024 was killed by blunt force trauma, according to a marine animal rehabilitation center. The Marine Mammal Stranding Center (MMSC) released the humpback whale's autopsy findings in a Facebook post on Friday, Apr. 12. The whale was found in the surf near 51st Street in Long Beach at around 6:45 a.m. on Thursday, Apr. 11. MMSC said the whale was a one-year-old male that was 24 feet 10 inches long. First Dead Whale Of 2024 Washes Up Along Jersey Shore A dead whale has washed up along the Jersey Shore for the first time in 2024, according to a marine animal rehabilitation center. Jersey Shore Man Admits Leaving DUI Crash Scene, Assaulting Officer: Prosecutor A 43-year-old man from Ocean County has pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of a crash with injuries, and other charges, authorities said. On Monday, Aug. 8, John Madden, of Little Egg Harbor Township, entered a guilty plea to knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in serious bodily injury and driving under the influence in an April 8, 2020, incident in Long Beach, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Possible Drowning Reported Along Jersey Shore First responders were called to a report of possible drowning along the Jersey shore, authorities said. The water emergency was called about 4 p.m. off 100th Street in Long Beach, according to initial reports.  An unconfirmed report said the elderly swimmer had been pulled from the water and that EMTs were trying to revive her. New Jersey authorities have been warning about rough seas all week.  On Monday, a swimmer in his 60s drowned in Lavallette and five other swimmers were rescued in Seaside Park, authorities said.
