A South Jersey mother accused of killing her 5-month-old child said she fatally stabbed her daughter to “fulfill the last of her sins, murder,” NJ Advance Media says citing court papers.

Kristhie I. Alcazar, 26, was charged with murder and a weapons offense, Daily Voice previously reported. She allegedly stabbed the girl in their Penns Grove apartment on Friday, the Salem County prosecutor said Friday. The baby’s father was not home during the crime.

Alcazar admitted to the crime in which she allegedly stabbed the girl in the heart with a kitchen knife, detectives wrote in their complaint, NJ.com reported.

The mother "showed no remorse and stated she would not change any of the events surrounding the murder,” a detective wrote, according to the outlet . Alcazar also said she was of sound mind and body and had not taken any drugs or alcohol  according to NJ.com

Alcazar appeared from Salem County Jail via Zoom for a first appearance in Superior Court on Monday. She is scheduled to appear at a detention hearing on Thursday.  The public defender representing Alcazar and the Salem County Prosecutor's Office had no comment Monday.
