Dump Truck Overturns On Route 287 An overturned dump truck shut a portion of Route 287 in Morris County Thursday, Jan. 4, the state's DOT site shows. The Peterbilt dump truck was heading north when the driver lost control, ran off the roadway to the right, reentered the lane of travel and then overturned around 10:45 a.m. near milepost 40.8 in Parsippany-Troy Hills, New Jersey State Police Trooper Troy McNair said. No injuries were reported. Two of the five lanes were closed as of 11 a.m. This is a developing story. Check back for more.

Mercer County Man, 62, Killed In Multi-Vehicle Collision On I-295: State Police A 62-year-old man from Mercer County was killed in a multiple-vehicle crash on Interstate 295 in Burlington County, authorities said. One of the drivers, Dennis Cox, 62, of Hamilton Square was ejected and fatally injured, they said. Troopers responded to the crash at 8:12 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9 on the northbound lanes of 295 in Mount Laurel Township, according to New Jersey State Police Sgt. Charles Marchan. Based on a preliminary investigation a Nissan Van was traveling in the right lane of I-295 north. A Dodge pickup truck was traveling north in the center lane of I-295 north.  …

The crash occurred about 1 p.m. on Route 72 west at milepost 2.8 near Anna Street in Woodland Township.  Jeffrey E. Roller, 76, of Whiting was operating a Harley Davidson west on Route 72 and was stopped in the right shoulder, according to Trooper Charles Marchan, a state police spokesman.. State Police ID Men Killed In Mercer County Crash Where Watermelons Were Strewn On NJ Turnpike State Police have identified the two men killed in last week's tractor-trailer crash in which watermelons were strewn across the New Jersey Turnpike in Mercer County. Malcom Cope, 55, of Douglas, Georgia, and Van Huston, 56, of Jamaica, New York, were pronounced dead after the northbound truck veered off the turnpike, struck a guard rail and slammed into a concrete bridge support near milepost 60.3, state troopers said.  Cope was the driver and Huston was a passenger.
