Starbucks Delays Closing Trenton Store
Amid intense lobbying by New Jersey federal, state and local officials, Starbucks has delayed closing its Trenton store. The popular coffee chain previously announced a closing date of March 30. A company spokeswoman did not say when the store will now close. "Yes, we have extended the closure date for our Trenton Community Store to support transition for our customers and the community; we look forward to serving our customers at nearby Starbucks locations," she said. Passenger Critically Hurt In Route 1 West Windsor Crash
A 39-year-old woman from Pennington was critically injured in a crash on Route 1 in West Windsor, authorities said. On Wednesday, Feb. 28 at about 2:20 p.m., West Windsor police responded to a single-car crash on Route 1 South just south of Carnegie Center Blvd. The vehicle that crashed was reported to have struck a pole and was in the roadway, West Windsor police said. A preliminary investigation found that the Honda was traveling south when it veered off of the roadway and struck a telephone pole, police said. Nineteen businesses who owe a total of $1.1 million have been barred from public contracting until they pay back their dues, the New Jersey Department of Labor said. R.A. Florio Building Contractors Inc., of Toms River, for example, has been ordered to pay $39,555.57 to the state, according to the department of labor and workforce development. Careless Pennington Driver, 19, Causes Two-Car Crash: Montgomery Police
A 19-year-old Pennington resident was cited for carless driving after a two-car crash in Montgomery on Wednesday, Jan. 3, police said. At 1 p.m., Montgomery police and EMS responded to Hollow Road, north of Route 518 for a car crash with injuries, officers said. The 19-year-old was operating a Mazda CX9 northbound on Hollow Road when she attempted to make a left turn into a driveway, officers said. Driver, 78, Killed, Passenger Seriously Injured After Car Strikes Tree In Lawrence: Police
A 78-year-old man who suffered a medical emergency died after his car struck a tree in Mercer County, authorities said. Jared Fowler, of Pennington, was driving near Fackler Road and Deer Run at about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7 when he veered off the road, Lawrence Township police said. Fowler was taken to Capital Health Systems Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, police said. His passenger, Janne Fowler, 78, was taken to the hospital with significant but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Authorities are seeking the public's help identifying three individuals wanted in a $9,000 check fraud case spanning Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The case was reported by a local business on Oct. 22, saying the checks were altered, "washed" and cash by three people at TD Bank branches, Newtown Township police said. The trio cashed the checks in Pennington (NJ) and Philadelphia between Oct. 13 and 19, using the names Gregory Lawrence, Michael Cadlett and Mary Plummer, authorities said. 19: Mercer County School Goes All-Remote Due To Positive Case
A Mercer County school is the latest to go all-remote after a COVID-19 case was reported. Hopewell Valley Central High School Central High School in Pennington will be going remote Thursday and Friday, though all other schools in the district will remain open, according to a notice posted on the district's website. All after-school activities will be cancelled and no students or staff will be allowed in the building until Monday morning for a deep-cleaning and contact-tracing, the letter says. It was not clear if the positive case was a student, faculty member or teacher.
