UPDATE: A now-former New Jersey child services worker who was busted on child porn charges at Newark Airport nearly a year ago also tried to traffic a minor for prostitution, federal authorities said they've learned. Inmate Dies Of Suicide At Cumberland County Jail, Authorities Say
An inmate in the Cumberland County Jail died of suicide earlier this week, authorities said. The 54-year-old man was found unresponsive in his cell around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, according to a release from the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office. Officers and medical staff responded and attempted life saving measures with negative results. An exact cause of death was pending autopsy results. Inmate Dies In Cumberland County Jail: Prosecutor
Authorities are investigating the death of an inmate at the Cumberland County Jail in Bridgeton. On Tuesday, March 1, at approximately 5:32 p.m, Correctional Police Officers from the Cumberland County Department of Corrections discovered a 54-year-old male who was unresponsive in his cell. His death appeared to be a suicide, but the cause is pending autopsy results, according to Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae. Guns For Cash? Firearms 'Buy-Back' This Weekend In South Jersey
Camden is among eight buy-back sites statewide for gun owners to turn in firearms for cash, authorities said. Camden's gun trade-in is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Antioch Baptist Church, 690 Ferry Ave. Anonymity is promised for those trading in firearms for up to $250 cash per weapon, according to Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer. Trade-ins are limited to three guns per person, she said. Hudson Prosecutor: Cash Recovered During Investigations Goes Missing
An internal affairs investigation has been launched at the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office after cash recovered in several different cases went missing, authorities announced Tuesday. All of the missing cash had been recovered from scenes and was being temporarily held for safekeeping, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. The money was kept in temporary storage in locked safes at the Prosecutor’s Office with limited access by investigative staff. A suspect was listed in critical condition early Tuesday in connection with "an officer-involved shooting," authorities said.
