Man Fatally Shot In Newark: Prosecutors
A 39-year-old Newark man was fatally shot on Friday, Sept. 8, authorities said. At 6:43 p.m., Newark police responded to a shooting on the 100 block of Brookdale Avenue and found Ralph Harris suffering from gunshot wounds, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. He was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead soon after, Stephens and Fragé said. Newark Man, 50, Dies Days After Irvington Shooting
A 50-year-old Newark man was fatally shot in Irvington, police said. Tony King was found suffering gunshot wounds around 11:25 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, on the 100 block of Isabella Avenue, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Irvington Police Director Tracy Bowers said. King was pronounced dead at 12:05 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 27. The investigation is active and ongoing. A 52-year-old Newark resident was fatally shot on Thursday, July 27, authorities said. At 6:11 p.m., police responded to a shooting on the 300 block of Wainwright Street and found Eddie Boykins suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. A 79-year-old Fort Lee retiree was hospitalized after he accidentally shot himself in the leg, authorities said. The victim was cleaning the weapon at his home in a high-rise overlooking Manhattan near Monument Park when it discharged shortly before 1 p.m. Monday, Capt. Edward Young said.
