Curry Restaurant Chain Coming To Hoboken, Newark

Curry Up Now, a fast-casual restaurant serving up the spicy south Indian staple with unique fusion-cuisine twists, is opening its newest New Jersey location in Hoboken before the end of the year, and there’s plans for a Newark location to open not long after that, spokespeople for the chain said in a statement.

The Hoboken store will be located at 91 Washington St. and the Newark shop will be located at 58 Halsey St.

Curry Up Now began life as a food truck in 2009 operated by husband-and-wife team Akash and Rana Kapoor and has since expanded to three food trucks and seven fixed restaurant locations in California and elsewhere. The company is in the midst of an expansion with dozens of shops planned in California, Georgia, Utah, New Jersey and other states in the next few years.

Popular menu items include tikka masala burritos, quesadillas dubbed ‘Quesadillix,’ Deconstructed Samosa, Sexy Fries, and Naughty Naan, as well as a Street Snacks menu and traditional Indian Street Food menu. Ingredients are clean and sourced from local vendors whenever possible, and the menu is designed to support alternative diets in an effort to accommodate all guests no matter their dietary preferences, the company said.
