A New York State Police trooper is recovering after being shot on a Long Island highway. The incident happened on the Southern State Parkway in West Hempstead, in the westbound lanes near exit 17, late Wednesday night, Oct. 30. According to police, a trooper exchanged gunfire with a suspect before the suspect fled the scene. The trooper was taken to a hospital and was listed in stable condition early Thursday, Oct. 31. Woman Struck, Seriously Injured By Car Crossing Hackensack Intersection
A 74-year-old woman was hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle Saturday night, Oct. 26 in Hackensack, police said. The woman was crossing the street at the intersection of Hudson and Moonachie Road when she was struck around 9:45 p.m., Police Chief Michael Antista said. The female suffered serious bodily injury and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and was cooperating with investigators. The incident is under investigation.

Who Stole $1,000 Worth Of Booze From Bergen County Bottle King?
Police are investigating the theft of more than $1,000 in alcohol from a Bergen County Bottle King store. Glen Rock officers were called to the Bottle King on Prospect Street around 8:50 p.m. on Oct. 16 on reports that a male went into the store with a shopping cart, loaded $1,020.47 into the cart, then wheeled it out without paying, police said. The man's identity is unknown and Glen Rock detectives are investigating.

Police have identified the person struck and killed by a New Jersey Transit train on Tuesday morning, Oct. 1. Tameko Joseph, 42, of Hackensack, was struck by Bergen County Line train 1154 near the Garfield Station, near Outwater Lane, just before 7:50 a.m., a spokesperson for the agency said. A New Jersey man was found hanging in the front yard of his family's home over the weekend, police said. Lakewood officers responding to a home on Cedar Street found the 23-year-old man hanging from a tree in the yard, Lakewood Police Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith said. Police in Hackensack are investigating a shooting on Friday, Oct. 4. Officers responded to Newman and Sussex streets at 9:30 p.m. on reports of shots fired, Hackensack Police Capt.
