The former LMS Vice Principal will take over for Dr. Nicholas Bernice, who will leave the district in August to become superintendent of Ringwood's school district. Saco worked for the Passaic Board of Education for 15 years before coming to Leonia in 2011. Two Vans Destroyed, House Damaged In Hackensack Fire HACKENSACK, N.J. — A downed power line ignited a fire Monday afternoon that destroyed two vans and damaged the siding of a Hackensack home, authorities said. No injuries were reported in the 1:15 p.m. Byrne Street blaze, city Fire Lt. Justin Derevyanik told Daily Voice. Firefighters had to wait for PSE&G crews to de-energize the power line before they could apply water. The fire was extinguished by 2:10 p.m. The house sustained some smoke damage, Derevyanik said.
