Photos: Ho-Ho-Kus Teens Invited Onto The Field During Mets Game HO-HO-KUS, N.J. — Bailey Blood, 11, and Jakub Kosinski, 13, of Ho-Ho-Kus were invited onto the field at Citi Field to change out the bases between innings during the Mets game on Sunday. Blood, who has cerebral palsy, received a fist-bump from Mets third baseman David Wright for his effort. Blood and Kosinski were two of more than 250 Ho-Ho-Kus residents who came to Citi Field to watch the Mets take on the Milwaukee Brewers as part of "Ho-Ho-Kus Unplugged," a community group that organizes events to get families to spend time together away from technology. Ridgewood Crew Heads To Philadelphia For Stotesbury Cup Regatta RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — Ridgewood High School will send 50 of its finest crew athletes to Philadelphia this weekend for the Stotesbury Cup Regatta, the largest high school rowing regatta in the world.The Ridgewood Crew team is coming off the Cities Championship on May 1, another Philadelphia regatta in which they won a record eight medals. At the Stotesbury Cup Regatta, Ridgewood rowers will be competing against 5,000 other rowers from across the United States and Canada for 31 trophies. Renovated Tenafly Stop & Shop Reopens TENAFLY, N.J. — Stop & Shop of Tenafly reopened Friday morning after being closed for five weeks for renovations. The store features new produce and bakery sections, new flooring and lighting, self-checkout lines and handheld scan-while-you-shop devices. The first 300 customers on Friday were to receive free reusable grocery bags. There were also free samples and product giveaways, while supplies lasted, until 3 p.m. The 23,000-square-foot building on Railroad Avenue that Stop & Shop is housed in was built in 1958. Stop & Shop opened that location in 2001.

Hasbrouck Heights Little League Organizes 8U Softball Classic HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. — Softballers from Maywood, Rochelle Park, Upper Saddle River, Little Ferry, Dumont and Lodi will flock to Hasbrouck Heights for the sixth annual 8U Softball Classic on Sunday, May 22. This round-robin tournament offers a day of sportsmanship and friendly competition for over 70 eight-year-olds representing six different programs. Massive 'Spring Fling' Carnival Returns To Teaneck TEANECK, N.J. — Bergen County's second-largest carnival is returning to the Teaneck Armory this week. The fifth annual "Spring Fling" kicked off Wednesday and will run through Sunday -- from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The carnival features 21 rides and 15 different games and food vendors. Admission is $2. Only the Meadowlands State Fair is bigger in Bergen. The Teaneck Armory is located at 1799 Teaneck Road.

Nest Adult Activity Center was renamed the "Richard & Catherine Adult Activity Center" during a ceremony Thursday morning honoring the wife of the former Fort Lee mayor. Hackensack Sisters Help Impoverished Youth Dance Their Way To Success HACKENSACK, N.J. — For Hackensack sisters Shatanya Shaw-Elliott and Shama Elliott, dance is a shield. The duo grew up in a rough Harlem neighborhood and competed in street dance competitions as a way to avoid the violence and crime that surrounded them.
