Twenty Displaced Following Three Jersey City Fires Firefighters had a busy Sunday, May 8, in Jersey City, with three different residential fires displacing 20 people, authorities said. Jersey City firefighters were first called to 150 New York Ave. at 1:44 p.m. for a two-alarm fire in a three-story three-family residential structure, Kimberly Wallace-Scalfione, a spokeswoman for the mayor's office said. The home suffered extensive damage and nine people were relocated by the Red Cross, Wallace-Scalfione said. No injuries were reported, Wallace-Scalfione said. All city companies were operating, with mutual aid at the scene. More than two dozen people were displaced. The cause remains under investigation.
