Belleville Man Gunned Down In Newark
A 38-year-old Belleville man was shot and killed this weekend in Newark, authorities said. Omar Rivera was shot on the 300 block of North 7th Street around 12:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. He was taken to University Hospital and pronounced dead at 4 a.m. The investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests have been made. Police in Newark are seeking a 22-year-old man reported missing for more than a week. Bryan Olano was last seen on June 16 at approximately 9:30 p.m., on the 300 block of North 7th Street, walking towards 4th Avenue, Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara said. He’s described as Hispanic, with a light complexion, 5’11” tall and 175 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes and was wearing a Steelers hat, yellow t-shirt, black pants and yellow and black sneakers. Authorities in Newark are seeking the public’s help identifying two suspects involved in a series of shootings and armed robberies earlier this week. Police responding to a report of a robbery on Pacific Street located a victim who stated that he had been assaulted and held at gunpoint by two suspects who took his wallet and fled in a white Toyota 4 Runner around 4 p.m. Monday, Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Man In 'Blessed' Hoodie Stole From Newark Church: Police
Police in Newark are asking the public;s help identifying the suspects in back-to-back incidents last week. Around 3:45 a.m. Friday, two men entered the parking lot of Buelah Grove Baptist Church on Springdale Avenue and swiped two cases of water from a church van. One of them later came back to the church, got inside and stole two laptops, a 30-inch smart TV, an Echo dot and food.
