Baraka, Deputy Mayor of Community Engagement Jacqueline Quiles, and the U.S. Census Bureau will launch the National Recruiting Week for Census 2020 job openings with the bureau, on Tuesday with a hiring event that day at the Newark Public Library and all of its branches. Woman Struck And Killed Near Newark Library A woman was killed when she was struck by a vehicle around noon Tuesday near the Newark Public Library, authorities said.  The driver who struck her left the scene and was last seen heading towards McCarter Highway.  The Essex County Prosecutor's Office later said the driver was later found by Newark police and prosecutor's investigators a short time later. Newark Opens Cooling Centers As Temps Begin To Soar With temperatures expected to hit triple-digits by the weekend, officials in Newark have opened cooling stations for all residents as well as for senior citizens specifically.  The heat wave beginning Tuesday is expected to last through the weekend.
