A 36-year-old Newark was resident was killed when the electric scooter they were riding collided with a vehicle on the morning of Monday, July 31, authorities said. At 7 a.m., police were notified of a scooter-vehicle collision on the 700 block of Frelinghuysen Avenue near the intersection of Whittier Place, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Four Dead In Fiery Newark Crash With Tractor Trailer
Four people died and one person was left critical in a crash involving two cars and a tractor trailer early Saturday, July 23 in Newark, authorities said. A car appeared to have rear-ended a tractor-trailer then burst into flames, spreading to the other car and the trailer around 4:20 a.m. on Frelinghuysen Avenue near Evergreen Avenue, Interim Newark Public Safety Director Raul Malave said. Four trapped occupants were pronounced dead while a fifth was hospitalized in critical condition. The incident remains under investigation. No further information was available.

A Paterson man died at the hospital after being shot in Newark over the weekend, authorities said. Dashon S. Ragland, 30, was shot on the 900 block of Frelinghuysen Avenue around 5:37 p.m. Sunday, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. A task force that has been cracking down on prostitution in Newark made 11 arrests Friday, Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said in a statement.
