Man Stole Hundreds From Newark Sports Bar: PD (Photo) A man is at large after he broke into a sports bar in Newark in the middle of the night, Wednesday, March 20, taking hundreds of dollars, authorities said. At 3:55 a.m., a man pried open the cellar door at El Pool Sports Bar at 116 Elm St with his hands and entered the basement, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said. He then went to a back room, opened a lock box and removed $300 to $400 before fleeing the scene and heading westbound on Elm Street, Fragé said. The man demanded the purse of a 73-year-old woman at gunpoint in the area of Elm Street and Pulaski Street around 2:40 p.m. Friday, according to Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara. Two warrants have been issued for the arrest of Chris Rosado, 23, who is connected the incidents on the 200 block of Elm Street on May 30 and the 100 block of Main Street on May 31, Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Pedestrian Killed At Rt.21 In Newark A person died after being struck by a vehicle in Newark Saturday morning, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said.  The person was hit around 10:30 a.m. at Elm Street and Rt. 21, the busy highway between the East Ward and the rest of the city.  Additional information was not immediately available.
