Working with Belleville police, officers arrested Luis Colon, 26, and two juveniles, all of whom are from Newark. They were each charged with multiple counts of theft. All told, they are believed to be responsible for nearly a dozen thefts.

A car the suspects are believed to have used, a black Acura, was identified with the help of the State Police Real Time Crime Center, Nutley police said.

Police were able to recover a number of items, including a kitchen sink.

Public Safety Director Alphonse Petracco commended the detectives as well as the many residents that helped bring this investigation to an end, adding that the cooperation between the residents, Belleville police and the New Jersey Sate Police exemplified how crime can be prevented.
