Wanted On Warrants: Trio Nabbed With Drugs, Dog In Hasbrouck Heights
A suspicious vehicle call led Hasbrouck Heights police to a drug-carrying, canine-accompanied trio wanted on warrants, authorities said. Officers Christopher Connors and Sgt. Dom D’Amico found the Subaru sedan in a Boulevard parking lot shortly before 6:30 p.m. Sunday, April 21, Lt. John Behr said. Officers Paul Albanese, Michael DeSimone and John Mullins joined them along with Wood-Ridge Officers Mark Torsiello and Devin Ochiuzzo, the lieutenant said. Two Juveniles Arrested For Vehicle Theft: Nutley PD
Two juveniles have been apprehended after a car was stolen in Nutley last month, police said. On Wednesday, March 6 at 4:21 a.m., the two juveniles entered a home on Alexander Avenue through a rear door and stole the keys to a Land Rover parked in the driveway, Police Director Alphonse Petracco and Chief Thomas Strumolo said. The vehicle was recovered in East Orange a day later, police said. The juveniles have been charged with conspiracy to commit burglary and motor vehicle theft, police said.

Five Teens Stole Luxury SUV In Nutley, Arrested In Ocean County: Police
Five teens were accused of stealing a luxury SUV in North Jersey and leading police in Ocean County on a chase, authorities said. Stafford Township police received a report of a stolen vehicle traveling near Route 72 and the Garden State Parkway at around 9:57 p.m. on Friday, Mar. 29. Jocelyn Pietri was walking hand in hand with her boyfriend, Wiston Perlaza, on Valentine's Day in Nutley when they were struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. Perlaza died from his injuries while Pietri suffered serious injuries and has been in a hospital and rehabilitation facility. A fundraiser has been launched to support Pietri and her family with the financial burden of caring for her expenses, including a wheelchair and travel expenses for Pietri's family. Two men were arrested and charged with stealing cooking oil from a restaurant in Nutley, authorities said. On Saturday, Feb. 24, Lewis Cogman, a Belleville resident and Bashir Wilson, a Newark resident, stole the oil from a restaurant on Washington Avenue, causing damage to the parking lot, Chief Thomas Strumolo said. UPDATE: The victim has been ID'ed as 22-year-old Wiston Perlaza. One person was killed in a motor vehicle crash in Nutley on the evening of Wednesday, Feb. 14, police said. The hit-and-run motor vehicle crash occurred at 7 p.m. at Milton Avenue at the Garden State Parkway overpass, Nutley police said. Nutley police and the Essex County Prosecutors Office are working to identify the perpetrator, officers said. The victim has not been identified. Nutley Teen Who Recently Woke Up From Coma Sees Community Support
Nelson Matos has been fighting for his life since his 17th birthday. The Nutley junior in high school recently awakened from a weekslong coma, and a fundraiser has been set up to help pay for his medical bills and medical equipment. As of Thursday, May 25, more than $42,000 has been raised. Matos initially experienced a minor cold and then acid reflux before being rushed to Mt. Car Crashes Into Bank In Nutley
A person crashed into the front entrance of the Valley Bank on River Road in Nutley on Friday, May 19, police said. The driver believed their vehicle was in park, police said. No one was injured and the Nutley Fire Department and Code Enforcement inspected the building for safety, police said.
