Newark Man Fatally Shot: Prosecutors

A 27-year-old Newark man was fatally shot on the evening of Thursday, Dec. 22, authorities said.

At 9:52 p.m., police responded to a shooting on the 200 block of Springfield Avenue and found Rodney Wrice outside suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said.

Wrice was taken to University Hospital and was pronounced dead soon after, Stephens and Fragé said. The investigation is active and ongoing and no arrests have been made, Stephens and Fragé said.
