A man was shot in a drive-by shooting in Newark on Monday, April 1, authorities said. At 10:30 p.m., police responded to University Hospital after a man walked in for treatment of a gunshot wound, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. The man said he was walking west on Springfield Avenue when a black SUV stopped in the area where he was walking and a passenger began shooting in his direction, Fragé said. A 27-year-old Newark man was fatally shot on the evening of Thursday, Dec. 22, authorities said. At 9:52 p.m., police responded to a shooting on the 200 block of Springfield Avenue and found Rodney Wrice outside suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Newark High School Students Injured In Hit-Run Bus Crash
Five students and two adults were injured in a hit-and-run school bus crash Saturday afternoon in Newark. The bus from was carrying 13 people including West Side High School students when it was struck at Springfield Avenue and South 11th Street by a black Audi SUV, a Newark police spokeswoman said.
