Michael Aaron Carter, 33, was arrested Feb. 3 after police said he held up Haledon Mart on Haledon Avenue in early January, Lt. George Guzman said on Friday. Carter was accused of taking money from the store after putting his hand in his jacket pocket to look like a gun and telling the clerk, "I have a gun. Elmwood Park Mayor, Council Honor Boy Attacked By Raccoon ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. — The Elmwood Park mayor and council honored a young boy attacked by a raccoon and the man who saved him for their bravery at a Thursday meeting. Mayor Richard A. Mola presented 6-year-old Aryan Gavali with a commendation. Aryan was attacked by a raccoon while walking to school Jan. 27. The raccoon later tested positive for rabies. Danny Walls, who helped free Aryan from the raccoon's grip, also received a commendation.  Aryan's family started a GoFundMe account to help pay for his medical bills after the attack.
