UPDATED: Residents in Ocean County were allowed to return to their homes after a wildfire was 60 percent contained Wednesday, April 12. Lightning Strike Fire Engulfs Jersey Shore Home
UPDATE: A lightning strike Wednesday ignited a fire that destroyed a Jersey Shore home and killed several pets. Two cats, a bird and several reptiles died in the Beckerville Road fire, which broke out in the 1½-story ranch house shortly before 3 p.m., Manchester Township police said. Responders included firefighters from Whiting, Manchester, Ridgeway, Forked River, Lakehurst, Cassville and Whitesville, as well as Manchester Township EMS and police. No injuries were reported. Authorities: Toms River Man, 23, Used Brass Knuckles In Motel Robbery
Authorities arrested a Toms River man in connection with armed robbery at the Travel Inn and Suites. Daniel M. Multiple Fire Departments Knock Down Fire In Lakehurst
An overnight fire Tuesday destroyed an Ocean County home, responders said. The Red Cross was assisting seven adults who reportedly were displaced by the blaze, which broke out on Center Street in Lakehurst shortly before 3 a.m. Flames shot through the roof of the home and caused minor damage to nearby homes. The Ocean County Fire Marshal's office was investigating the cause.
