Days after dealing with threats, overdoses, and inappropriate touching, an investigation has been launched into multiple fights and disorderly conduct at St. Charles High School, the sheriff’s office announced on Monday, March 13.
According to a spokesperson for the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, a group of three students - ages 14, 15, and 16 - attacked a 15-year-old classmate, during which a teacher was also struck during the fracas.
Another student, 15, then attempted to intervene and began fighting the group of three, at which point the fight escalated as many students heard the struggle and left their classrooms to engage in the brewing battle.
The SRO and additional officers responded to the school and were able to de-escalate the situation and the students were separated.
Minor injuries were reported among the students, though the teacher was unharmed after being struck. The teens were treated and evaluated by the school nurse.
According to the sheriff’s office, the SRO initiated an investigation and criminal charges are pending for the four students who were fighting. They also face discipline from the Charles County Public School system.
