Democrat April McClain Delaney has declared victory in the hotly contested race against Republican Neil Parrott in Maryland's 6th Congressional District. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources has implemented a statewide ban on open-air burning amid the "extremely dry conditions" that have plagued the region recently. According to officials, "extremely dry conditions persist across the state and have led to an above average number of wildfires statewide, and conditions are not expected to change in the near future."
