Fourth Tornado Touchdown From Severe Storms Confirmed In Connecticut
Officials have confirmed that a fourth tornado touched down in Connecticut during the severe round of storms on Saturday, Nov. 13. The fourth tornado, in Windham County, in the Town of Plainfield, was confirmed as an EF0, (the weakest of the six levels on the Enhanced Fujita Scale), as a powerful storm swept across the state, said Accu Weather Senior Meteorologist Paul Walker. Walker said the tornado traveled for a six-mile path with winds that could have reached up to 100 mph. New Confirmations Bring Number Of Tornadoes During Storm To Six
A total of six tornadoes have now been confirmed in New York and Connecticut after the severe round of storms that moved quickly through the region from west to east on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 13. Three were on Long Island and the other three were in Connecticut. Five were rated as EF-0 twisters (the weakest of the six levels on the Enhanced Fujita Scale), due to its wind speed. Deli Heavily Damaged By Fire In Region
A popular Connecticut deli and bakery was heavily damaged by an overnight fire. The fire started around 11:15 p.m., Monday, Nov. 8 at the New London County Avventura Bakery & Deli in Stonington, said Stonington Fire Chief Eric Heath. Heath said the department was alerted to the fire by numerous 911 calls and an alarm. The first arriving units found heavy smoke and fire inside the deli that is known for its sweet treats and stacked sandwiches. Man Accused Of Yelling Racial Slurs When Asked To Fix Mask At Store
A Connecticut man faces a bigotry charge for allegedly spitting, and yelling racial slurs, over a COVID-19 mask policy at a package store. Hartford County resident Daniel Henderson, age 57, of Stonington, was arrested on Wednesday, Oct. 27. According to Lieutenant Keith Egan, of the Stonington Police Department, Henderson had an active warrant stemming from an incident that occurred at Lefty’s Package Store in April.
