Police Called To Brush Fire In Russell; Hold It Off Until Firefighters Arrive
Police in Russell were called to hold off a fire that threatened a home earlier this week until fire crews could arrive. Montgomery-Russell police responded to the Glasgow Drive brush fire Tuesday morning, May 9, and said the line of flames was less than 20 feet from a neighboring home. Officers quickly jumped into action to help prevent the flames from spreading toward the home like creating a firebreak until Rusell firefighters could arrive. No one was reported injured.

Sprinklers Prevent Further Damage To Classic Cars At North Shore Storage Unit
Fire officials on the North Shore are applauding more than just their own crews for containing a fire and preventing further damage at a classic car storage unit in Ipswich over the weekend. Firefighters responded to the fire at Clam Town Classics, located at 11 Old Right Road, just before noon on Saturday, June 25, the Ipswich Fire Department said. Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke coming from the building, which houses several classic cars. Cause Of Fire ID'd At Internationally Famous Western Mass Dance Co. Jacob's Pillow
Fire-fighting officials have closed the case on the cause of a fire that ripped through a local, internationally-recognized dance performance space in November. On Wednesday, Feb. 17, the Massachusetts State Fire Marshal Peter J. Ostroskey along with Becket’s fire and police chiefs, said that the cause of the fire at Jacob’s Pillow is “officially undetermined.” Still, firefighters explained their strong suspicions about how the fire began as well as how better fire-safety measures at Jacob’s Pillow could have reduced the damage.
