Steve Carell Goes On Shopping Spree At Newton Mall Fans of "The Office" in Newton got a rare treat over the weekend when Steve Carell, Dunder Mifflin's lovable yet cringe-inducing manager Michael Scott, went on a shopping spree at a mall in the city.  The "40-Year-Old Virgin" and "Big Short" star was spotted shopping alone at The Shops at Chestnut Hill on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 25. He filmed the movie "The Way, Way Back" in Newton in 2013.  The Oscar and Emmy-nominated actor grew up in nearby Acton.
