An Everett man had a lot to be thankful for on Thanksgiving after he scratched off a $1 million winning lottery ticket on the holiday last year. He claimed the ticket and accepted his prize money recently. Lucio Tedesco won the money playing the “Fabulous Fortune" $10 scratch-off ticket. He chose to take the lump sum payment of $650,000 (before taxes) rather than the annuity. Tedesco plans to pay off his mortgage and make some improvements to his home with the cash. Dairy products linked to deaths and serious illness — sold nationwide at many major retailers — are being recalled, the Center for Disease Control, the US Department of Agriculture, and the Food And Drug Administration announced in multiple releases over the first week of February. Hundreds of people have rallied to help a Tewksbury mom of two boys after she was hit by a drunk driver while riding in an Uber with friends. The USDA has issued a warning to consumers after rocks were found inside a prepackaged chicken meal from Trader Joe's. The ready-to-eat chicken 14-ounce packages are labeled as "Trader Joe's Chicken, Lentil and Caramelized Onion Pilaf with Saffron Basmati Rice, Dark Chicken Meat, Dates, and Golden Raisins." A Lowell man who is accused of killing his girlfriend and leaving her body in a car at Boston Logan Airport before boarding a plane to Kenya has escaped police custody in the East African nation, reports said.
