Woman Busted In Holyoke Stabbing That Nearly Killed Victim: Police

Police in Hampden County have arrested a 31-year-old woman in connection with a back alley stabbing in Worcester last week, authorities said.

Francheska Vazquez, of Holyoke, is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon with serious bodily injury, assault to murder, assault with a dangerous weapon (firearm), and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (knife), Holyoke police said. 

A Good Samaritan flagged down officers patrolling Sargeant Street around 10 p.m. on Oct. 26 to let them know a woman had been stabbed in an alley nearby. Police rushed to the area to perform life-saving measures until paramedics arrived. 

They rushed the woman — whose name was not released — to Baystate Medical Center with serious injuries. Authorities have not released an update on her condition, but officials said at the time she was expected to survive. 

Officers arrested Vazquez on Wednesday, Nov. 1.
