Police Seek Public's Help To ID Hit-And-Run Driver After Serious Accident Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a driver involved in a serious hit and run crash on Saturday. On Saturday, Jan. 16, around 12:30 p.m. police responded to a report of a crash in the area of Chicopee Memorial State Park on Burnett Road, police said. One of the drivers took off in a dark-colored pickup truck (pictured here). It is most likely a Ford Super Duty and it has Rhode Island plates, police said. Covid-19: WMass City Reverts To Full-Remote Education A small Western Massachusetts city is the latest city to join the full-remote learning club. On Tuesday, Nov. 17, Easthampton School Committee voted 4-3 to revert students to full-remote learning, according to WesternMass News.  There were not many children in classes at the moment - only kindergarten and special needs. Students were supposed to return to school on Thursday, Nov. 19, but this has been indefinitely delayed. School officials said they would revisit the decision in early December.

Police Investigate Possible Suicide At Movie Theater Police are investigating a possible suicide in a theater parking lot. West Springfield Police went to the theaters on Route 5 (Riverdale Road) on Tuesday, Sept. 29, early in the morning to investigate what appears to be a self-inflicted fatality, according to WesternMass News. The incident is still under investigation. When police arrived they found a man in his 20s unresponsive and laying on the ground near a car.

Seven People Are Without A Home Following Springfield Fire An Ames Street structure fire in Springfield has left seven people with nowhere to live. The Wednesday, Aug. 12, fire at 36 Ames St., is being investigated by the Springfield Arson And Bomb Squad, the Springfield Fire Department said. The people who lost their home were a family, WesternMass News reported: a mother, father, and five children. The family’s five pets were able to make it out of the house. The mother said electrical work was being done to the home around the time of the fire. The family is being assisted by the American Red Cross.

Holyoke City Councilors Seek To Oust Mayor Morse With A Recall Vote A group of Holyoke City Councilors is seeking to oust Mayor Alex Morse with a recall vote. City Councilor Mike Sullivan said, on Tuesday, Aug. 11, that he will be filing an order that would allow Holyoke residents to launch a recall petition that would set up a vote on whether to keep Morse as mayor. Morse, 31, is facing criticism since news broke earlier this week that he had dated students, 18 years and older, while a professor at UMass Amherst.
