A lucky area resident cashed in a winning $100,000 lotto ticket that was sold at a Connecticut liquor store.
On Friday, Aug. 27, Middlesex County, Massachusetts resident Dolores Ortiz Morgan, of Waltham, won $100,000 playing "CASH5" on a ticket sold at the Dworken Wine & Liquor store in Bridgeport.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is now in effect for the entire region.
Damaging winds with gusts that could cause power outings are the main threat, the National Weather Service said in issuing the alert. Flash flooding, frequent lightning and large hail are possible.
It lasts until 11 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, for these areas:

Fiance Desperately Fundraising $10,000 Reward For Information On Girlfriend's Killer
A grieving fiance is raising money to offer a reward for information on his girlfriend’s killer.
Jennifer Hicks, 20, of Springfield, was fatally shot in a commuter parking lot in Manchester, Connecticut, on Aug. 2.
Police said the killing was not random, according to The Hartford Courant. Hicks was killed over a weekend that saw three double shootings in Manchester, Bridgeport, and New London.
