Newton Duplex Fire Kills 1; 3 Others Escape Burning Home
A man was killed after a fire tore through a duplex in Newton on Sunday morning, March 24, authorities said. Firefighters were called to the blaze at 1243 Walnut St. around 8:30 a.m. and saw flames pouring through the first-floor windows, the State Fire Marshal's Office said. Firefighters pushed their way inside and found a man lying on the floor and pulled him out of the blaze, authorities said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. A man was killed and another person was hurt when a fire tore through a Lowell late Saturday night, March 16. Multiple neighbors called 911 to report heavy smoke pouring from the back of the house at 114 Farmland Road just after 10:45 p.m., the State Fire Marshal's Office said. Woman Saved After Icy Plunge Off Boston Bridge: Police
A woman who jumped off a bridge with the intent to end her life was brought to safety by firefighters and state police marine units, officials say. Police and fire departments were notified that a woman was in the ocean near North Washington Street Bridge on Tuesday, Feb. 7 around 9:45 p.m., according to Massachusetts State Police. Two men are in the hospital after their vehicle crashed into a tree in Newburyport over the weekend, authorities said. Fire crews responded to the crash on Turkey Hill Road near the West Newbury line around 8:45 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25, Chief Stephen H. Bradbury III said in a statement. 66 Residents Evacuated Due To Burst Pipe At Reading Senior Living Facility
66 residents needed to be evacuated after a burst pipe at a senior living facility in Reading, authorities said. Police and fire departments responded to a report of a pipe burst at The Residence at Pear Street, located at 75 Pearl Street, around 11:53 a.m. on Monday, June 27, both departments said in a release.
