Correctional Officers Cop To Cover-Up Conspiracy Involving Abused Inmate In Maryland Facility A corrections officer in Maryland that turned a blind eye to an inmate who was assaulted admitted to his role in covering up an incident at the Eastern Correctional Institution (ECI).  Daric Evans, 32, of Crisfield, pleaded guilty to conspiring to obstruct justice, related to covering up evidence that a fellow officer at ECI had unlawfully assaulted an inmate, federal authorities announced. Maryland The Independent Investigations Division (IID) of the Office of Attorney General released its investigative report on Wednesday, Aug. 31 regarding the fatal officer-involved shooting in Somerset County earlier this year.
